The caption is necessary to link this photo with her sense of self and how it portrays that -- pushing herself out of her comfort zone through travel. Similar to others, this demonstrates an event or activity that she believes defines some of her characteristics. If she was asked for her characteristics, it is more likely that she would say "adventurous", etc. However, since this needs to be connected to an image, each person has connected their characteristics to an event that they feel defines them.
